About The Annie Moore Memorial Project


What:
• A memorial honoring Annie Moore and her place in American and Irish History as the first immigrant to be processed through Ellis Island.
• Components may include a gravesite marker, a freestanding memorial, and a dedication event.

Where:
• Calvary Cemetery (Queens, New York) at the location of Annie Moore’s gravesite and/or at another appropriate location on the grounds of the cemetery, and/or an additional location in New York, if necessary, as approved by the descendants.

Why:
To provide a marker at the unmarked gravesite of Annie Moore.
• To honor the legacy of Annie Moore and her significance to American immigrants and her place in American and Irish history.
• To initiate the process of correcting the historical records which have mistaken the true identity of Annie Moore and her descendants.
• To educate and create awareness of the significance of Annie Moore’s place in history.
