Hi all - The link below is to a new video documentary on Annie Moore's life in Ireland and trip to America. School children in Ireland researched this, acted in it and produced it. Roots TV is airing it on their website. It is 30 min in length and worth every second. They show Annie getting baptized at her church, the street she lived on, the boat she left on....etc. It is really a great work. Please take a break and watch this...you will really enjoy it. There is also a 3 minute trailer if you want to just get a feel for the documentary.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did....

Regards! ...Teresa

In another tribute, “Making up History: The Search for Annie Moore,” playwright Alia Faith Williams tells the compelling story of Annie Moore’s journey to America, paralleled with the efforts of Megan Smolenyak and other avid genealogists to uncover Annie’s true identity.

In addition to these new programs, you can also see the original press conference held at the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society in September 2006, announcing the discovery of the “real” Annie Moore. Learn about how Annie’s story was lost and another Annie Moore assumed her place in history, as well as how the detective work of Smolenyak and fellow genealogists revealed what became of the true Ellis Island Annie and her family, including her present day descendants.

If you haven't had the opportunity to travel to Ellis Island yourself, these videos provide a nice overview -- and of course, I'm pleased that they're both set to Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears, a song about Ellis Island and Annie Moore that I've always found quite touching. They'll need to correct the song, though, because we now know she was 17 when she arrived, not 15 as the song says several times.
