THUR - SEPT. 30, 8:00 PM - SAW DOCTORS AT THE RHYTHM ROOM

After fifteen years on the road, the Saw Doctors have produced their first ever live CD and DVD entitled Live in Galway. Both the live CD and DVD were released in Ireland, the UK and the USA in March and are available in all good record and DVD stores. Both the live CD and the DVD are compiled from a famous concert in Galway, Ireland last July during the Galway Races.
What people are saying about the new CD/DVD, “Live in Galway”:

“The CD/DVD captures the band’s irresistible stage energy and suggests what Bruce Springsteen might have sounded like if he had grown up in Western Ireland writing less ambitious lyrics and catchier choruses”. Geoff Himes – Baltimore City Paper

“Catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics and impeccably crafted songs – Live in Galway captures the Saw Doctors at their peak” Eileen Murphy – Irish Echo

FRI OCT 22: 7:30 PM: FINTAN MULLAN - RESEARCHING YOUR SCOTS-IRISH ANCESTORS

How do you go about tracing your Irish ancestors? Where do you begin, and is it even possible? Many people not familiar with Irish research may have heard the myth that Irish genealogy is difficult if not impossible. Nothing could be further from the truth. Ireland has some superb historical records, in some instances, records that are unique in Western Europe. Irish history is a woven fabric made up of historical documentation, oral tradition, sense of place and of identity, of belonging, and of loss. It may not always be straightforward but with a practical approach and a sound foundation, the experience can be a life-enhancing journey of discovery.

Researching your Scots-Irish Ancestors presented by Fintan Mullan, sponsored by The Irish American Cultural Institute and Dave Tierney at the Irish Cultural Center .

Fintan Mullan is Executive Director of Ulster Historical Foundation. He was educated at Queen's University Belfast and has a bachelor's degree in Irish Politics and Philosophy and a Masters Degree in Organisation and Management. Fintan has been with the Foundation for nine years. He is also currently a director of Irish Genealogy Limited and the Irish Family History Foundation.

A donation of $6 at the door requested. Please RSVP to the Irish Cultural Center at
