Ever since I formed the Arizona Irish Music Society in the spring of 1999, I've had a problem. People assumed I must know a lot about Irish music.
I decided that I needed a crash course on the major Irish artists. Yet when I searched the web for this information, I found bits and pieces scattered all over the place. The information needed to be compiled and organized. Thus was born "Irish Music Forever."
First, we needed list of the major artists. For example, the performer links directory for Irish Music Magazine is far from complete and is not even in alphabetical order. Even the wonderful Irish Music Box directory is far from complete. What is more important, there is nothing to tell who the performers are.
That is why I created a directory called IRISH MUSIC FOREVER - Major Artist List Itt lists over 130 major recording artists. Each artist is linked to their section on page called IRISH MUSIC FOREVER - Links and Bio's which includes biographies of most of the artists in addition to the links.
Skimming through called IRISH MUSIC FOREVER - Links and Bio's is like reading a book on modern Irish/Celtic music. There is nothing like it on the web
In addition to biographical information on most of the artists, there are links to other web sites that relate to the artists such as the artist's official web site, fan sites, profiles on Ceolas and Epinions, a site which pays amateur reviewers based on how many registered people look at their reviews. (If you ever wanted to get paid for spouting off, about a CD, a product, service, restaurant, etc.; then this is the place to go.)
Most important of all are the links to the "discography" section for the artists on CD-NOW. Discography is a fancy term to describe the information about the CD such as the tract listing, performers, production credits, release date, etc. CD-NOW includes articles, reviews of the CD, "related artists", and other information of interest such as how to order the CD. They do a nice job, but only if you know what you are looking for.
The list or Irish music artists is far from complete. We will be adding additional artists, web site links, reviews, and more biographical information as time goes on. Suggestions and comments are welcome and should be sent to aims@azirishmusic.com.
