Music from four grand nations (Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England) comes alive through bagpipes, drums, Celtic dance and military marches by performers who fill the floors and aisles. Formed in the 1700s, The Black Watch is an historic regiment that still serves as a fully operational battalion in the modern British Army. The pomp of full ceremonial dress and the majesty of the music will fill the auditorium in a flash of energy perfect for families.

Since its early beginnings, the Black Watch Pipe Band has toured extensively and brought the pomp and pageantry of British life to many far-flung corners of the world. In recent years it has visited Belgium, Egypt, Spain, the USA and Canada. Within its ranks the musicians come from a variety of backgrounds such as colleges, academics, other military bands and orchestras. Permanently based in London, its members enjoyed a varied and challenging musical career. They can regularly be seen at the ceremony of Changing The Guard at Buckingham Palace and many other State and ceremonial occasions. The Band also performs frequently with many of the world's finest orchestras in some of the most spectacular extravaganzas in Great Britain.

The Black Watch, or Pipes and Drums, has long been known as a family regiment. Many members of the Pipes and Drums have fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or brothers who served in the past, or are currently in the regiment. Today the operational role of this impressive regiment is that of Machine Gun Platoon, an elite unit with the Regiment. All its members are fully trained machine gunners who won first place in a 1994 competition among infantry battalions. In addition to serving in Hong Kong, the Pipes and Drums recently served in Kenya.

The Band of the Welsh Guards was formed in the same year as the Regiment (1915), and consisted of 44 musicians and a Warrant Officer – Andrew Harris, their bandmaster. In 1916, the Band gave its first concert on the stage of the London Opera House and the evening was such a success that the Band's reputation for its high standard was immediately established.
