HAL ROACH THE KING OF BLARNEY COMES
TO PHOENIX
Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day early
with Hal Roach “Ireland’s International Comedian” on March
5, 2004.
Hal Roach has been the star of Jury’s Irish Cabaret in Dublin for over 20 years. His unique style of story telling brings joy and happiness to millions of families all over the world. Honored by the Irish government as an Ambassador of Mirth for his contribution to tourism, he has been instrumental in attracting countless thousand of visitors to the Emerald Isle. Princess Grace of Monaco described him as one of the jewels of Ireland. Listening to Hal can be habit forming and dangerous to your health!
Hal Roach’s jokes nearly always point out double entendres or plays on words. Actually, he paints pictures of Ireland with words and each one is a miniature masterpiece. I try to bring people a sense of nostalgia in my work. Humour is an integral part of our nation’s culture. We must be able to laugh at ourselves, but if you have to debase your culture in anyway, that’s not humour. I do not tell off-colour jokes. I do not relate to people who do. Humour is a God-given gift and should be respected.
This performance is co-sponsored with The Irish Gift House, Tempe, Arizona.
Quotes from around the world include:
New York Daily News: He paints pictures with words. It’s like a breath of fresh air to listen to a comedian who is on stage for nearly one and half hours and never told one off-colour joke.
Miami Herald: The Bob Hope of Ireland Los Angeles Times: He’s the funniest man in the world.
