Recent Album:    Sings Danny Boy & Other Irish    1997

In the world of Irish music, Tony Kenny needs little introduction. Tony Kenny, Ireland's 1998 "Entertainer of the Year", has thrilled audiences around the world with his exceptional talent. Tony began his musical career as the Star of the internationally acclaimed stage musicals, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, where critics described his performances as both "powerful and compelling".

After receiving dozens of awards for his stage and television performances, Tony turned his beautiful voice and theatrical talent to the world of Irish music when he joined the cast of the world famous Jurys Irish Cabaret in Dublin, which recently won Ireland's National Entertainment Awards "Show of the Year" Honors on December 29, 1998. As the star of Ireland's award winning Jurys Cabaret, Tony has entertained over one and a half million people from around the world, including a 30-city tour of the United States in 1999. As a recording artist, Tony has achieved phenomenal success and his ten recordings have been hits on both sides of the Atlantic. His release of "Danny Boy and Other Irish Favorites" has achieved Platimun Disc status. Tony latest CD, "Songs of Joy and Inspiration," is receiving widespread airplay on both Irish and mainstream radio stations in the United States. (Exerpted from IrishUSA)

Lemonade & Buns

Recent Album:    Lemonade & Buns    2000

If Irish music is indeed headed in fresh directions, the eclectic Dublin-based band Kila is at the vanguard, creating world-wide waves with its "new Irish music." The band combines township jive, jazz improvisation, gypsy melodies, and more on its new release, Tog E Go Bog E (Take It Easy).

Kila is rooted in a secondary-school band formed by the O Snodaigh (pronounced o-SNOD-a) brothers, Colm (flute, whistles, vocals, saxophone, percussion), Ronan (vocals, bodhran, guitar, percussion), and Rossa (bouzouki, bodhran, didgeridoo, mandolin, djembe). From a family of six children, they began polishing their multi-instrumental chops in local band competitions. Now 33, 29 and 28, respectively, their cooperative spirit is at the core of Kila's free wheeling musical creations. Plenty of emotional wallop is packed into Tog E Go Bog E, highlighting Kila's individual and collective musicianship. The band's second set of brothers, Lance (guitars, hammer dulcimer, vocals, percussion) and Brian (bass, vocal, percussion, guitar), joined around 1995 when Lance produced Kila's Mind the Gap, their first U.S.-released album. Other members include Dee Armstrong (fiddle, viola, accordion, vocals, percussion) and Eoin Dillon (uilleann pipes, whistles, vocals, percussion).

Although the band consciously tries to limit road tours to three weeks, they've toured Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Canada, and it's likely they'll tour the U.S. again next year after their next album is released in Ireland this September. With Tog E Go Bog E having been certified Gold and Kila winning a respectable 1998 musical arts award in Ireland, Colm is satisfied with the band's achievements to date. "Sometimes when you're on the road and working hard it's difficult to actually step back and understand how important a thing it is you're doing, even if it's just for yourself. When you get an award like that it's like, 'Okay, we are doing the right thing.'" (From a feature article on CD-NOW "Irish Music on the Millennium Edge" By Nancy Ann Lee)

Rock & More Roses

Recent Album:    Rock & More Roses    1989

A virtuoso cittern and guitar player and an excellent singer and songwriter, Pat Kilbride is one of the most dynamic solo performers in Irish music. He was a member of The Battlefield Band for a brief time in the '70s, then moved to Belgium and eventually Brittany, where he performed in a more pop-oriented group. In the '90s, Kilbride's a New Yorker and plays music both solo and with The Kips Bay Ceili Band. ~ Steve Winick, All-Music Guide (From the CDNOW Biography)
