The sister of singer Sheila O'Shea, Irish vocalist and harpist Aine Minogue began performing at the age of 14 as a member of the Galway Mercy Convent's renowned 114-piece orchestra. After a tenure with the Bunratty Castle Singers, Minogue relocated to the U.S., settling in Boston
and teaming with the Irish tenor Sean O'Shea in the duo Legacy. While simultaneously teaching at Boston College's Irish Studies Program, she also began performing extensively in the company of artists including Johnny Cunningham , S‚amus
Connolly, and S‚amus Egan , all of whom joined her on her debut release, 1994's Were You at the Rock. In 1996, Minogue returned with a pair of LPs, Mysts of Time and To Warm Winter's Night, followed in 1997 by Between Worlds. Circle of the Sun
appeared in 1998. ~ Jason Ankeny, All-Music Guide

FORMED: January 1990
One of the contemporary folk music's most eclectic bands, the Mollys were conceived by longtime friends and musical collaborators Nancy McCallion, the group's chief songwriter and penny whistle player, and Catherine Zavala, guitar and mandolin player. With the addition of bassist
Dan Sorenson, drummer Gary MacKender, and accordion, guitar and banjo player Kevin Schramm, the Mollys have evolved into an ensemble capable of incorporating an ever-growing list of musical influences.
McCallion, a first-generation Irish-American, and Zavala, who grew up in a bilingual Mexican-American family, first played together in a high school band, the MoPhonics. Formed in 1983, the MoPhonics played throughout the Tucson, Arizona area for four years.
The Mollys were first conceived by McCallion at the University of Arizona, where she earned a degree in elementary education. Together with a classical flute player, McCallion assembled a group for a senior project in which she devised a lesson to teach music to youngsters. When
the project grew into a concert, McCallion recruited her old musical partner Zavala. They took the name "the Mollys" because it sounded Irish.
After playing with an ever-changing series of other musicians, McCallion and Zavala put together the current lineup of the Mollys by 1994. The same year, they signed with a national booking agent and began performing throughout the United States. ~ Craig Harris, All-Music Guide
(From CD-NOW Biography) In April of 2000, Catherine Zavala and Gary Mackender left the band.

"An Irish singer, songwriter and performer, Mick lives now in Philadelphia, and is probably the single most significant person in Irish music in America today, through his teaching, organising (he founded Cherish the Ladies), recording, performances and academic folklore
activities (yes, that's Dr. Mick to you!). He now runs a series of folklore tours of Ireland.
In his previous life in Ireland in the sixties, he was a member of Emmet Folk Group (Emmet Spiceland), with Donal Lunny and Brian Bolger, and of the Johnstons, with Paul Brady. He now performs solo and in various groupings including with Tommy Sands, Eugene O'Donnell, Seamus Egan, Greenfields of America and others" (Exerpt from
