(D) EARLY AFTERNOON SCOTTSDALE GIG
I was told you might be able to help me find an Irish/ Celtic band/ duo/ solo
for a short set on St Patty’s day in Scottsdale.
Its a fairly formal/ high end affair and id need them from 7:30PM – 9:00PM.
So plenty of time to head off to another gig, as I know St Patty’s day
is very busy for this type of performer.
Anyway thanks for your time and if you wanted to handle reaching out and setting
up, I would compensate you for your efforts.

--- FUNDRAISER FOR JANE HILTON
FROM JOHNNY KERR
The Arizona music community was shocked early in 2010 when Jane announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the years many of us have had the pleasure of knowing Jane Hilton; whether we took fiddle classes from her, watched her on stage or shared the stage with her, she has touched many lives with her music and her endearing personality. Jane is one of the most genuine and talented women I have met; her integrity, her passion for music and her compassion for people are all things that come to mind immediately when I hear her name.
The attached artwork represents a sticker that has been created as a fundraiser* to help Jane throughout this difficult time in her life. These are available to anyone who would like to support Jane- there is a $5 minimum donation for each sticker. These are high quality 3” round vinyl decals that are suitable for indoor or outdoor use; put one on your car window and/or your instrument case to show your support for Jane around Phoenix. The cost to print these decals has already been covered by a small group of Jane’s friends and 100% of your donation will go directly to Jane. We have printed 1,000 of these decals and the goal is to raise at least $5,000 (1,000 decals at $5 each) to help Jane with medical expenses. The added bonus is that Jane will see the stickers around town and know that she is loved and supported by her community.
About the design:
Having known Jane for the time that I have, I know that she is not the kind
of woman to be defined by cancer or any other disease. For this reason, the
traditional breast cancer awareness “Pink Ribbon” is present but
it takes up only a small portion in the design. I have no doubt that Jane will
overcome this disease and, just like in this design, the cancer will one day
be just a footnote in her life. The main focus of the design is an image that
we can all relate to Jane by; a fiddle (or violin, depending on which musical
circle you know her from!). The text within the banner is a simple expression
of love and support for Arizona’s favorite fiddler.
Please contact Johnny Kerr for details (kerr.johnny@gmail.com) on how to get your decal.
Sincerely,
Johnny Kerr
*Please note that I have proceeded with this fundraiser only after sharing the idea with Jane and receiving her permission.

Hope to see you at one of the gigs below.
Smooth Violins and Crunchy Fiddly Bits guaranteed!
--- FRI - MAR. 5TH - AT THE IRISH CULTURAL CENTER.

9pm - with YOU - seisiun (aka, jam session, Irish style).
It's on the First Friday artwalk, so admission is free - but we will happily
take donations and sell our CD's.
This will be the most Celtic of the weekend's shows.
I've just finished my parts on Sarah's new album "We Brought the Summer
With Us" - for which we dove into the 1800's finding new harp-laden treasures.
Ask her how you can pre-order the album!
Chris and Shanan of The Knotty Harper band are each well-respected musicians
in the Phoenix Irish community. On top of that, they know how to entertain.
Chris is a professional clown. Shanan is the 'flute diva.' Humor and beauty
and Michi makes three.

The Knottys, you know by now - but we are saving our wierdest repertoire for
Saturday night. We are calling this show "A World Tribute to Irish Music"
- because we love Irish tunes, but we can't help but mess with them! Wait till
you hear the "Balkan Washerwoman," reflecting our love of the Slavic
soul. Edge-of-the-chair tempos and cross-continental mashups are closer than
they appear.
And for Act 2......
The Absinthe Minded Professors Storyteller Joshua Safford and Violinist Michi
Regier present "Fantasy and Fugues of Queen Victrola" a collection
of steampunk tales in which; we meet a most extraordinary gentleman's hunting
club, discover the rather gory prequel to the nutcracker, and journey to a future
that never was -- all accompanied by Clockwork Violin.

12. INTRODUCING LADY IN WHITE
Hello all. This is Jimmy McBrown the past drummer of the wonderful band O’Carroll’s
Gate (now The Biffo’s). I have joined up with a wonderful new Celtic/Indie/Alternative
group Lady in White. Lady in White is a Celtic influenced indie rock band featuring
Tanya Madsen’s original music as well as many Celtic favorites. Her theme
is taken from the European White Lady legends. They are in essence, ghost stories
of women haunted by their earthly sorrows. Her voice is sweet yet powerful,
and her keyboard arrangements exquisitely rendered, reflecting the depth of
her songs. She has recently been joined by Jim Brown, drummer and singer, and
Paul Bergelin, bassist and guitarist; both hailing from extensive musical backgrounds.
They create beautiful vocal harmonies guided by phenomenal percussive and rhythmic
abilities. Together, their talents combine to accentuate the subtle emotions
often lost to the modern world. We will be playing throughout the Valley soon.
Here is our MySpace site, www.myspace.com/ladyinwhitemusic
Contact number is 480-276-8940. MySpace site is www.myspace.com/ladyinwhitemusic
Hope you all enjoy the music and I hope to see all of you soon. This is a wonderful band! Cheers! Jimmy McBrown
