1. OUT AND ABOUT

-- SORRY I MISSED YOU

Sounds like a cliché when I say I missed the BeerFest last Sat due car trouble. I was literally on my way when my engine overheated and I returned home. I hope ever one had a good time.

---  BOLLOX ENTERS THE PHOENIX SCENE

I got word of the The Bollox from several people but did not get a chance to hear them until last weekend. I’m hoping to do an in depth interview, but it seems obvious that they have a kind of “Brop Kick Murphy/Flogging Molly” style sound that has already a picked up a strong following. They have five members: Jason Devore and Keither Walker on vocals, Saddy Combs on Bass,  Greg McLarty on lead guitar and Brad Pack on drums.  Their website is under construction http://www.thebolloxmusic.com/, but they link to a myspace  site with clips of their music noting Folk Rock / Punk / Celtic as their style.

2. RANDALL BAYS ON JUNE 17 CONCERT

You may have seen the announcements in the Four Peaks newsletter and/or in George's newsletter about the Randal Bays house concert on June 17th. In case you don't get either of those newsletters: it will be an evening of superb traditional fiddle and guitar music in a nice relaxed house setting (you need to contact Laura to reserve a spot - her email contact is on here).

Randal is also planning to do a fiddle workshop on Tuesday evening the 16th, which I believe is going to be at the ICC. If you or anyone you know is interested in the workshop, please contact Laura (I don't know the time or cost - Laura or Mary should have that information).
----------------------------------------------------
Looking to improve your fiddle skills and get tips to help your playing style? Join Four Peaks Irish Arts for an informative fiddle workshop taught by Randal Bays. This two-hour workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at the Irish Cultural Center in downtown Phoenix from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The price is $30. This is an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the top Irish fiddlers in the US! Reserve your spot today by calling Mary Hill-Connor at 512-917- 0279 or email mary@fourpeaksirisharts.

If you're not a fiddler (or any type of musician) but love Irish music and storytelling at its best, make sure to plan on attending the Randal Bays House Concert to be held on Wednesday, July 17 in Chandler. Suggested donations are $12 for Comhaltas members and workshop attendees, $15 for non-members. You won't want to miss this evening of music and fun! Seats are very limited, so call or email Mary ASAP.

Cheers! --
