--------------------------------------------------------
--- BEERFEST A BIG SUCCESS
--------------------------------------------------------

The preliminary count was 415 attendees, or nearly double last year’s attendance. The music by the Chuckawalla Rhythm Kings and the Academy Fiddle Players was very well received. Julia Devous did readings from James Joyce’s Ulysses

This year’s program incoproarted some major changes. Last yaer the brewers organization pushed for an early start time, but this prooved a real problem due to the heat. This year the start time at 7:00 PM rather than 5:00 PM and much much cooler. Moving the Joyce readings to the cottage meant packing people in, but it seemed to work pretty well..

The only thing I would have changed was to have lights on the outside booths, but in any case the crowd was great all th way to 11:00 PM

3. MEMO FROM THE RAKES

Greetings George,

The Rakes will be performing Tues June 17th @ 8 pm at O Donohuges Pub as part of their St Practice day events where every 17th of the month is St Practice day.

We are also pleased to anounce that starting June 18 th, the Rakes will be performing every Wed at D’Arcy McGees at Tempe MarketPlace 8pm show.

Jonathon Miller fiddler extrodianire will be performing along with myself as a duo on this series of shows. This is a great new venue in a very busy Mall so we hope for good crowds to expose them to traditional Irish music. Also NightShift will be performing at ‘D’Arcy’s on the 28th of June and in addition to the Chief we have added new irish tunes to our songlist played by the full band, we are the only Irish/Blues Band in town: paying hommage to the Great Irish msuicians Blues Like Rory Galleghar, and Van Morrison in our pursuit of great music with mass appeal.

“Irish tunes and Blues!!! Now that’s entertainment” Billy Brett

Thnaks for the support and we’ll see ya on the flipside

Cheers

Tommy Grills

The Bhoys of the “Rakes”/Nightshift
