Kudos
Below is taken from the article
-----------------------------------------------------------
Jones' success has been growing in leaps and bounds in recent years, most clearly elucidated when he and his band, MacSeoin, were the grand marshals of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade last March.
"I did nine performances over four days in Sedona, Phoenix and Prescott," Jones said. "Based on the success of those, I have a renewed sense of confidence about what I'm doing."
Karl Jones is a Irishman with a mission.
“I would really like Sedona to embrace an Irish music festival," Jones said."
"The Sedona St. Patrick's Day Committee have thrown their support, as has the Scottish Highlands Games Committee in Prescott for an Irish Music Festival in Sedona in or around Paddy's Day weekend next year," Jones said.
The potential sites are Sacajewea Plaza or Posse Grounds Park.

3. FOUR PEAKS MEETING AN SET DANCE AT ICC ON FRIDAY
7:30 PM
Irish Cultural Center
1106 N. Central Ave
Phoenix, AZ
602-258-0109
Spread the word! Our first general meeting will be held this Friday on June 27th at 7:30 P.M. at the Irish Cultural Center. Registered members and all who are interested in joining to preserve and promote Irish music, dance, song and language are invited to attend. We will update everyone regarding what has been happening behind the scenes. Jim Belcher (see bio below) our Chairperson for the West Region will be speaking as well as calling the set dance at the end of the evening. There will be a seisiún led by Brandy Driscoll to accompany the set dance so bring your instruments.
Jim Belcher is the Founder and Chair of the West Region, of the North American Province of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann(CCE). CCE is an international organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Irish culture, especially the music and dancing. Since moving to Seattle, Jim has founded the Puget Sound Branch and is currently the Chair. Based in Seattle, the branch serves the Puget Sound region. Prior to moving to Seattle, Jim was the Chair of the Cooley Keegan Branch, San Francisco from 1994 to 2000. During Jim’s tenure of the branch a rekindled enthusiasm for the dancing and music was fueled. Membership increased dynamically in the following years enabling the branch to host the 1998 National Convention. Often described as one of the best conventions, it was attended by over 1000 supporters of the Irish tradition.
Jim started teaching set dancing in 1994 in San Francisco and continues today providing weekly set dance lessons at Molly Maguires pub in Ballard. Jim regularly provides set dance workshops for the Seattle Folklife festival and St. Patricks Day festivals. Jim has provided weekly set dancing classes in San Francisco, Sacramento and Concord, California. He has also taught workshops at the Celtic Festival in San Francisco, the Irish Festival in Anchorage Alaska, and the Frog Festival in Los Angeles.

5. MEMO FROM TONY NORRIS
Dear George.
There's a full moon over Doney Park tonight. Seems like only a few weeks ago the spring blizzards of May gave us 15 heavy wet inches of snow. This week we've had several days of temps in the mid-upper 80's. Sue's garden is growing like a weed. The neighbor's developmentally challenged dog stole my granson's Spongebob Squarepants pillow and now carries it all around the yard to sleep on.
The Rocky Mountain Four o'Clocks are blooming like nobody's business....
This last week I drove North of Flagstaff 125 miles to the Lees Ferry Inn to entertain students from Conn. for Grand Circle Field School. The next day's gig was 112 miles South to Prescott to EmCee for the Tsunami on The Square. The next day took Ken Ralston and I 150 miles East to the Chavez Ranch near St Johns to play for a private BBQ. I'm going to have to add a fuel surcharge to my fee..... Ken told me he bought a locking gas cap to "protect his investment". I can remember paying 19.9 for gas at the old Red Ball Station in 1968.
Saturday I will be playing some tunes at a block party in support of Howard Shanker's run for Congress. Stop by and meet Howard. Andy Bessler will be hosting the block party on the east side of Flagstaff at 3405 N Grandview. Noon-3pm For further details please contact Andy Bessler avbessler@yahoo.com 928-380-7808
Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music will have their 7th Annual Folk Festival on June 28th and 29th at The Coconino Center For The Arts. Over 100 area musicians participate in this fine acoustic event. I perform at 2:40 on Sunday with Bill Burke and Fred Coon and solo at 4:15. Check out the schedule at FFOTM.
A loose Co-op of Northern Arizona writers has taken on the task of writing a weekly column for FLAGLIVE MAGAZINE called LETTER FROM HOME. Please check it out. You can read online at Flagstaff Magazine
. Try "archives"
for past issues. So far Jean Rukila, Darcy Falk, Scott Thybony, Megan Buchanan, Kate Watters and yours truly have penned personal notes from our northland home.
Be well,
Tony
6. MEMO FROM THE KNOCKABOUTS
Hey George,
I just wanted to give you an update on Jacquie and her surgery. Everything is going great so far and we hope to get some more good news this Wed. when we see the doctor. She had a fusion done in her back to fix a bad disc and now has a strong, titanium back. She is still recovering from the two surgeries but everyday seems to be better. The good news is there is no more pain in the back! During this time, the Knockabouts have taken some time off for her to heal but we will be back stronger than every (literally) by the festival in July. Hope to see our fans soon!
Slainte,
John
