3. ACTOR’S THEATER PRESENTS LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE SEPT 14 TO 30 AT HERBERGER
[EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the same company that brought us “Stones In His Pocket” three years ago.]
“Appallingly Entertaining” Bloody Farce Opens Actors Theatre’s 2007-2008 Season,
PHOENIX, Ariz. (July 17, 2007): Monty Python meets Quentin Tarantino in a brazen and unapologetic black comedy presented by Actors Theatre. The Lieutenant of Inishmore tells of a ruthless Irish Liberation Army enforcer and the one thing he loves more than anything in the world . . . his little black cat, Wee Thomas.
Hailed for its hysterically funny dialogue plus outlandish violence and bloodshed on stage, this play was described in the New York Times as “appallingly entertaining.” “Play-going doesn’t get any better than this.” (Wall Street Journal). Please note this play contains mature themes and adult language and violence that may be disturbing.
Directed by Actors Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director Matthew Wiener, the cast includes: Oliver Wadsworth as Padraic; David Vining as Donny; Tim Shawver as Davey; Kerry McCue as Mairead; David McCormick as James; Beau Heckman as Christy; Cale Epps as Brendan and Colin McFadden as Joey.
Single tickets are on sale starting August 1. Prices range from $20 to $45. Visit www.actorstheatrePHX.org to purchase tickets online or call the Herberger Box Office, 602-252-8497 Mon-Fri, 10am to 5 pm. Plus $6 savings off each regular price adult ticket for groups of 6 to 14 people and $10 off for groups of 15 or more. Season ticket packages and Flex Passes are also available.
Actors Theatre, a 22-year old not-for-profit professional theatre company, presents progressive and provocative plays celebrating the unique power of live performances to engage and inspire our audiences. Actors Theatre is a resident company of the Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix. Actors Theatre. Off Broadway – Just Downtown. www.actorstheatrePHX.org.

5. COTTONWOOD'S MARVELOUS MOONDANCE THIS WEEKEND
Dear Friends of the Cottonwood Contra Dance,
I hope that by now you have heard that our regular 3rd Saturday Cottonwood dance in July will be an extra special dance! At the June dance, we were delighted to discover that the "swamp cooler," really did an exceptional job of keeping the Hall cool! We discussed getting the word out to as many dancers as we could, especially the dancers in the valley who might enjoy coming North, out of the heat. It was suggested that if we were to offer folks a place to crash for the night, they might be more willing to drive the distance for the dance. Of course from there, the vision grew, and before long it had evolved into a dance that would last as long as callers, dancers and musicians were willing! And so, the idea for the first annual "Marvelous Moondance" was born. Please ink this event in on your calendar, and plan to join us on Saturday July 21!
It's not quite a Dawn Dance, but think of it as a "bop-till-you drop" sort of event! Dancers, musicians and callers are invited to bring their sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, camping pads and/or mattresses, and PJ's... whatever you need to make your "campout" in the hall comfortable! We will be having our regular Pot-Luck dinner around 5:00, so please join us with a dish to share. Of course, we will be dancing at the very least, into the early hours of the morning, so we invite participants to bring high energy snacks to share. (Coolers with ice will be on hand to keep foods fresh). Other fun activities at the dance will include a 30 minute dance medley, free trips to the glitter bar, an award for the "best bling at the fling," backstage readalongs from the newly released "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the "Wizard Walk," door prizes, a Homer Simpson lookalike contest, special recognition for the last dancers on the floor, and MORE!
Callers (so far) will be Dave Black, Deb Comly, Peg Hesley and Archie Maclellan . We welcome anyone who would like to call a dance or two to give it a try - just contact me to get on the schedule! Music will be provided by Hands Four (from good Old Tucson), Updraft (from the elevated hinterland), Hot Dish (from the fruited plains of the Verde Valley to the scorching sands of the lowest deserts) and Lenny and the Diehards (recently on supervised release). If you are a musician who finds the long days of summer has your strings stretched too tight, this is your night to share your talent and unwind!
Join the home team and be part of the fun folks bringing this gala to our dance community! We need you! We need snacks, food organizers, greeters, sweepers and more. Please call or email me if you'd like to get involved. (928) 774-5936
The schedule for the evening is as follows
I'm really looking forward to seeing you in a week!
Deborah Comly
6. LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO STAY IN IRELAND
Greetings Fellow Irish Music Lovers
I am leaving for Ireland July 25th and returning August 12. I am still working (frantically) on accommodations. I know of Gulliver, goIreland, & the well published accommodation sites. However I would like to ask our group for 2 things:
1) Is there a list of B&B's that has any type of rating?
Lodging has really increased in the past 4 years!! I will be at the Dublin Horseshow Aug 8-12, and it's fairly booked up.
Thanks all,
