2. OCTOBER HAPPENINGS WITH INIS

Hi everyone!

We'll be out and about aplenty this month!

Come get a true taste of fall by heading up to Prescott at the cute and family friendly pub, Celtic Crossings! In fact, you can experience it twice this month! We are headed up there last Saturday evening (10/3) and again on Saturday, 10/17, both from 6-9 pm. Their fish and chips melt in my mouth!! http://www.facebook.com/l/95ef7;www.celticcrossingspub.com

Next Saturday, 10/10, we'll be back at our favorite east-side pub, D'Arcy McGee's from 8-11 pm. Did I mention their fish and chips are killer? http://www.facebook.com/l/95ef7;www.tempe.com.darcymcgees

Finally, we'll be appearing at our favorite west-side pub, Lis Doon Varna, for Sunday brunch on 10/18 from 12-3 pm. We feel very fortunate to be on the same rotation as Pat McCrossan, Tamor (formerly of Oceans Apart), Trotter's Wake, and Meadowlark. LDV is where it all started for us--we have been performing there regularly since last October! Thank you LDV! And their fish and chips are to die for!!! http://www.facebook.com/l/95ef7;www.lisdoonvarnapub.com

We hope you'll come on out to these pubs and enjoy and pint or two, try something on their menu (it's ALL good!), and perhaps tip your hat to the band!

Slan,
Colleen, Chris, and Becky

Beverly is a fabric artist who also worked in oil, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, charcoal and ink. It takes her about six months to complete a fabric piece entirely by hand. Her ideas come from her lifes experiences, including music, performing arts and her imagination. Her work is not for sale, but she plans to sell limited edition prints of her work. She retired in 2004 from a career in printing and graphic design, which included owning two printshops. She first entered her artwork in scholastic art competitions in high school. In 1963 she earned both Best of Show and First Place awards with her first oil painting in a show in Scottsdale. Her work is in private homes throughout the United States and Canada.

8. MEMO FROM TONY NORRIS

Dear George ,
Sue picked a half bushel of beans, five gallons of mixed peppers and a wheelbarrow full of acorn, butternut, Hubbard and other winter squash before the hard frost hit Doney Park on November first. How many pints of pickled peppers did Suzie Q pack? Don't ask. She's done with snapping beans and canning for this year. Now the chickens are gleaning bugs, weed seeds and other goodies from the garden patch.

The 31st Sharlot Hall Folk Festival this past weekend was a wonderful event. It's a combination family reunion and music party with old and new musical friends from all over the Southwest gathering at The Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott. We had a record turnout Saturday and then 50 mile per hour winds and spitting rain on Sunday! I got to help Katie Lee celebrate her 90th birthday on stage in the Blue Rose Theater. Made my day...

My guest this month at The First Wednesday Vintage Series at the WINELOFT is Dr Henry Poore who is signing his new book: Traveling Down the Highway with an Educated Goat, Memoirs of an Audacious Country Doctor, Volume II [Henry's website http://docpoore.com/ ]. This is the sequel to his well received first book: Lessons Learned. I had the honor of writing the foreward for this delightful collection of life stories. Renee Santhouse, fiddler of The Zuzazz Orchestra will join Bill Burke, Henry and me for oldtime bluegrass and jugband tunes.Oct 7th 8-11pm No cover.

This Friday and Saturday I will be performing with Sid Hausman at The Lincoln Co Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Warren Miller and I are driving over together. Maybe we'll follow the old Magdalena cattle driveway from Springerville through Pietown to the railhead at Magdalena.

Bill Burke and I will be performing a couple of old folk songs with the Pine Forest 5th and 6th grades at their Fall Choir Concert Oct 12th 5:30pm at the Newman Center NAU Campus. Old Lee, Bright Morning Stars and Old Joe Clark. It don't get no better..... Sunday the 18th will find the Springfed Band back at Bookmans 2-4. Hot coffee and hotter tunes. Be there or be square.

Ya'll be well and enjoy the autumn.
Chairs,
Tony

1. “Absolutely wonderful, I see you went to Saint Fagans too, a great place for Welsh history, Caerphilly and Cardiff castle are very close to where I live, and Rhossili bay is breathtaking, this video brought a flutter to my heart, and with a Welsh male voice choir too, Thank you.” Russell Sheppard, Llanbradach, Wales."

2. “I received the second disc “A Warm Welcome”, thank you very much. It’s wonderful. I must say that you are a very good photographer and the shots you have taken of Wales were fantastic. You have a keen eye for good composition and the colours in some of the photos were just beautiful. You certainly covered a good bit of Wales when you were here. You have probably seen more of Wales than a lot of Welsh people. Russell Sheppard, Llanbradach, Wales"

3. "Diolch for the invite and the warm croeso. And that beautiful clip from your DVD! The combo of photos and music brought tears to my eyes, and it's before my first cuppa of the morning!"
