Bill is an Irish entertainer based in Toronto, Canada. Bill has been performing for over 30 years and is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist, performing all over the world. Bill has resumed his solo career after a brief spell as a member of the Irish Rovers and delights audiences with his lively performances. He continues to release collections of songs that capture the spirit of the music and the heart of the listener.

Biography from www.billcraig.com

Bill was born and raised in Ireland, and lived in London in 1973. He moved to Toronto, Canada in 1974. He first performed as vocalist for various Rock 'n Roll bands in Ireland in 1967.

Bill has performed acoustic traditional and contemporary music now since 1977. It was in 1977 he formed Foggy Duo with Canadian multi-instrumentalist, Don Garbutt. They brought their musical energy to some very old material, giving it a much needed lift. This successful partnership lasted through four years and three albums - including Ship in Distress - as the renamed Skyboat. Don Garbutt also worked on Bill's first solo album, On The Left. This album was recorded in Canada and released on the Dutch Pan label in Europe. His next recording, on which he played all instruments, is titled Late Nights.

Bill Craig's performance is relaxed eclectic, thought provoking, goofy and entertaining. His casual attitude is designed to include, not exclude his audience, be it eight or eight hundred people. Bill puts all his energy into his songs and makes a point of having a good time on stage. This usually translates to his audience having a similar experience.

5. DERVISH COMES TO ARIZONA:

--- THUR. NOV 9 - DERVISH IN CONCERT IN FLAGSTAFF AT CLINE LIBRARY

Contact: Kari Barton 928-600-1365

Irish supergroup Dervish is coming to make their Flagstaff premier. Don't be fooled by this...Dervish is a band with that has long stood at the forefront of traditional Irish groups. From high energy tunes played with intuitive fluidity to beautifully measured songs, from charming lyrics of life and love to inspiring melodies htat lift audiences from their seats, all the elements are drawn together by vocalist Cathy jordan's masterful stage presence. Her stories to the songs and the interaction with the audience draw people into the music in a way few performers can achieve. Having seen Dervish several times, I must say that they are one of my favorite bands; it was difficult not to jump up on every tune and dance. The songs with the power and emotion of Cathy Jordan's voice are just astounding. The Irish Times wrote this about Dervish: "The musical integrity makes the group a formidible heir to the throne abandoned by The Bothy Band, if not a serious contender for The Chieftain's international space...Simply a brilliant and uncluttered testimonial to music imagination and talent."

Dervish will be performing Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 8:00pm at the Cline Library Auditorium. Doors will open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 with a $2 discount to members of NAIF, NACHS, FFOTM, seniors, and NAU Faculty & Staff. Child and student tickets are only $10! Tickets are available at NAU Central Ticketing 928-523-5661, Cedar Music 928-779-0799, Jitters Coffee 928-526-6964, and www.ticketmaster.com. 7. ENSEMBLE GALILEI WITH NEAL CONAN: A UNIVERSE OF DREAMS AT SCOTTSDALE CENTER FOR THE ARTS ON NOV 17

November 17, 2006; Friday @ 8 p.m.

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Virginia G. Piper Theater

(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) - Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present A Universe of Dreams featuring Ensemble Galilei with Neal Conan on November 17, 2006, at 8 p.m. The performance is presented by The Richard and Deborah Felder Foundation.

Single tickets are available for $42 from the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts box office at (480) 994-ARTS (2787) or online at www.scottsdaleperformingarts.org

A transporting musical, visual and celestial experience, A Universe of Dreams is a multi-media performance combining the Celtic music of Ensemble Galilei and the voice of NPR's Talk of the Nation host Neal Conan with breathtaking imagery taken by the Hubble Space Telescope projected on stage. Among the writings that Conan will read are texts by Stanley Kunitz, Jim Harrison, William Shakespeare and a re-telling of a Navajo Creation Myth, all juxtaposed with images from the Hubble that have transformed our understanding of the universe.

Ensemble Galilei performs Irish, Scottish, early and original music on a variety of ancient and modern instruments, including the Celtic harp, Scottish small pipes, gamba, fiddle, recorders, whistles and percussion. The group features Elke Baker on fiddle, Ginger Hildebrand on fiddle and guitar, Michael Lynn on historical flutes and recorders, Jackie Moran on percussion, Sue Richards on harp and founder Carolyn Anderson Surrick on viola da gamba.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDITOR'S NOTES: I had not heard of this all woman group, Ensemble Galilei, before getting this press release, but one of their members, fiddler Liz Knowles is a very familiar name... "her career as a Irish fiddler became increasingly more notable with a solo spot on the soundtrack for Michael Collins, a two year run as fiddle soloist with Riverdance, performances and a recording as a guest soloist with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, a year-long stint with Cherish the Ladies, a solo album on Lyrichord Discs, "The Celtic Fiddle of Liz Knowles", and recordings and performances with such artists as Altan, Liz Carroll, John Doyle, Dennis Cahill, Natalie MacMaster, Don Henley, Rachel Barton and Tim O'Brien. Her longstanding membership in Ensemble Galilei reflects her search for the marriage of her favorite genres of music as well as the opportunity to further explore her composition and arranging skills. Her tunes and arrangements can also be heard on albums by John Whelan, Liz Carroll, The String Sisters, Beolach, Bachue, and Flook."

FOUR SHILLINGS SHORT: CELTIC, FOLK AND WORLD MUSIC DUO

The husband and wife duo of Aodh Og O'Tuama from County Cork,Ireland and Christy Martin from California are true modern day gypsies, touring all over the US and Ireland since they met 11 years ago. Together they are Four Shillings Short, bringing together the influences of Ireland and India on an ever increasing array of musical instruments. Four Shillings Short will be performing an outdoor concert in Sedona at the Sacred Healing Gardens of the Soulistic Medical Institute Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 P.M. (Come early and tour the new Soulistic Medical Institute, gates open at 6:00 P.M.)

AN ETHNOMUSICOLOGY ROAD SHOW....Traveling musicians with a carload of instruments is nothing new in the world of folk music, but what if one of those instruments is a Sitar from India or a Renaissance Crumhorn? With an ever-increasing array of instruments (over 20 at last count), including hammered dulcimer, mandola, mandolin and bouzouki, tinwhistles and recorders, Medieval and Renaissance woodwinds, North Indian Sitar, banjo, guitar, percussion and songs old and new the music of Four Shilling Short is always lively and captivating.

"A California duo you must see to believe. The arrangements of this husband-wife team are utterly delightful, filled with traditional instruments of both Celtic and Eastern Indian cultures and the familiar sound of American folk. Four Shillings Short is a band riddled with child's play, yet rich in the wisdom of old-timers who know better than to take themselves too seriously. Their musical virtuosity makes old songs sound new and new songs sound like time-worn Celtic spells." City Pages, Wausau, Wisconsin.

In a single night, Four Shillings Short perform Traditional Irish and Scottish songs, tunes and airs, Indian Ragas, Folk Ballads, Old-Time songs, Medieval and Renaissance instrumentals and a cappella numbers as well as contemporary folk and original compositions. Their sound has been described as "wondrously diverse", "truly refreshing" and "alternative neo-Celtic folk of the first order".

Since its inception in the San Francisco Bay Area, Four Shillings Short has always had an experimental streak. Formed in 1985 the band's roster has included many of Northern California's Irish, Folk, Jazz, and Classical musicians. Since 1995, the current partnership of Aodh Og O'Tuama and Christy Martin have formed the core of Four Shillings Short.

Born in Cork, Ireland, Aodh Og O'Tuama comes from a family of poets, writers, musicians and teachers. He studied music at University College Cork in Ireland and Stanford University in California. Californian Christy Martin grew up in a family of musicians and dancers and began studying the Sitar at age 16 with a protégé of famed Sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.

After 10 years of being an established folk band in the San Francisco Bay Area, the duo of Four Shillings Short set out on their first tour in 1997. Traveling in a converted mini-van packed with instruments, sound equipment, a camping stove and tent, they set out on a new tour every two years performing in 45 of the United States and in Ireland. In 2007 they will tour the entire US once again and then move base to Ireland and begin touring more extensively in Europe.

Four Shillings Short "brings a fascinating mix of material, spirit and wit to the stage" comments Dave Humphreys/Two Way Street Coffee House, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Gates open at 6:00 P.M. Show starts at 7:00 P.M. Admission is $10 advance, $13 day of show for adults and $7 advance, $10 day of show for youth ages 11 and under. The Soulistic Medical Institute is located on 40 Goodrow Lane just off West Highway 89A between Rodeo Road and Coffee Pot Drive behind the Aquarian Concepts Community Center at 2120 West Highway 89A. BIOGRAPHY

Scott Jeffers has assembled a group of truly talented and diverse musicians that make this band quite possibly the first of its kind, fusing traditional old world elements with a full blown hard rock ensemble.

Composer and founder of the band, his vision is to fuse elements of ancient ethnic music with rock. He has traveled extensively through foreign lands to gather inspiration for the Traveler project. Not only is he influenced by the exotic music but he composes the majority of the band's songs during his journeys, bringing a true authenticity to the fusion. Known for his fiery and passionate violin and vocal performances, Scott's commanding presence onstage adds to the trademark power of the live Traveler shows. He also brings traditional instruments from his journeys to the stage; Bouzouki,a traditional greek stringed instrument and an Arabic Oud, an ancient predecessor to the guitar.

BIOS OF OTHER MEMBERS :

GARY WILSON'S influences range from hard rock, jazz fusion, classical and bluegrass to world music. These elements combined with his warm, heavy guitar tone bring a hard rock edge to the fusion of Traveler's music.

MARCO ZAVALA plays drums with the heart and passion of a true musician. Influenced by Fates Warning and other progressive rock bands, Marco brings a unique, heavy and passionate edge to the sound of Traveler. Marco is a world traveler and has spent time performing in Greece and Turkey.

JUSTIN BARTIK has played with Traveler for about four years. Justin specializes in the fretless bass. His early influence stems from studying the speed licks of Iron Maiden's bass virtuoso, Steve Harris, which helped him develop the speed and precision needed to perform the exotic Arabic runs and the difficult Gypsy bass lines of Traveler's music.

KIMBERLY LAMBROS has been with the band from its beginning six years ago. Growing up with the exotic island music of her Greek heritage, Kim brings an authentic ethnic feel to the band. Her passion for percussion shows in her unique approach to the finger cymbals. Kim has become known for her extreme finger cymbal trills.

ERIC ZANG adds to the exotic overtone of Traveler through his skillful mastery of multiple ethnic instruments. Eric plays from the heart, bringing high energy and the traditional element to the fusion onstage. He has travelled to many foreign lands and studied music in Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria. He brings a wide variety of foreign instruments to the stage including Nay, Kaval, Oud, Zurna, hand percussion, Darbouka and Djembe

SHAWNA MCGUIRE grew up listening to the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and the Beatles. After her journeys through Greece, Turkey, and Egypt, she found herself heavily influenced by ethnic music. She now plays keyboards, exotic percussion, and Flamenco-style guitar with Traveler and continues her commitment to the study of world music.
