Téada is a traditional Irish music group from Ireland. The band comprises five members. The members are Oisín Mac Diarmada who plays the fiddle and sings vocals, Paul Finn on button accordion, Damien Stenson on the flutes and various whistles, Seán Mc Elwain on the bouzouki and the guitar and Tristan Rosenstock who plays the bodhrán. Téada first came to attention through an appearance on the Irish television series, Flosc, in 2001.
When Téada released their first and self titled album Téada the Irish newspaper The Irish Times lauded the band for "keeping the traditional flag flying at full mast," and Scotland's newspaper the Edinburgh Evening News wrote, "If there is a better new band on the Emerald Isle, they must be very, very good."

It's a lively show, two hours by turns warmed with faith, uplifted by music, and highlighted by laughter, especially when the men of Teada appear dressed in rags and tags and hats you have to see to believe in celebration of the day after Christmas tradition of the wren boys, when all the bachelors in a town go door to door asking for change to hunt the wren -- which nowadays people usually do down at the pub. Irish Christmas in America is a sharing of connection grounded in music, a celebration of family and good times at the winter season, whatever your tradition or national heritage.

Most of the group's members grew up in rural Ireland, learning traditional music through local classes and by listening to older musicians. "It was really a very organic process," says Mac Diarmada. "With Téada, we wanted to capture some of that rawness and individuality of the solo artist within the dynamic of a full band." Oisín, on fiddle, was joined in the band initially by John Blake on guitar and later flute, Seán McElwain from Monaghan on banjo and bouzouki, and Dubliner Tristan Rosenstock on bodhrán. Following a growing popularity, particularly in the US, which had seen the band becoming a full-time worldwide touring act by early 2003, the band sound was augmented greatly by the joining of Co. Laois accordion-player Paul Finn. The end of 2004 saw founding member John Blake depart the band for other pursuits as Sligo flutist Damien Stenson became the most recent addition to the line-up.
