1. OUT AND ABOUT
--- CEILI WITH LIVE MUSIC ON FRI AT ICC
CEILI DANCE AT THE CENTER
The Center Monthly Ceili's on the second and third Fridays of the month. Enjoy Irish social dancing in a relaxed atmosphere with live music and dance lessons. Ceili date for 2008 December 19. Admission is $6.00 with children under 12 Free (2 with each paid admission) Ceilis start at 7:00 pm.
--- CEILI WORKSHOP DATES ON SAT AT ICC
Ceili dance workshops at the Center are on the third Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 PM. These are two hour dance intensive for beginning and advanced dancers. Beginners will focus on basic footwork and simpler Ceili dances (Fairy Reel, Siege of Ennis, etc). Advanced dancers will learn more difficult figure dances (Cross Reel, Trip To The Cottage, etc). If you are an experienced Ceili go-er or if you have never danced before, this is the class for you! Make new friends and learn how to dazzle the spectators at the next ICC Ceili. Admission is $16.00 for adults and kids under 12 $2.00. Ceili workshop for 2008 is December 20. For further information, please call (602) 258-0109.

2. WINTER SOLSTICE PARTY AT ICC ON SUN
Dear Phoenix & AZ Contra Dancers,

The Knockabouts will be at Muphy's Law Irish Pub in Chandler for New Years Eve. It is a really new pub and we are excited to be part of their first New Year celebration. 4. FRIDAY HARBOR ADVANCE REGISTRATION DEADLINE ON JAN 1
[EDITOR’S NOTES: I ran this a about a month ago. Friday Harbor Camp is hugely popular with local musicians with up to a half dozen attending each year. Randal Bays has performed in Phoenix a couple of times and is an outstanding player. There are some really interesting workshops]

We're happy to announce the eighth Friday Harbor Irish Music Camp, March 9-15, 2009, in beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington. We're now taking registrations for classes in fiddle, flute, concertina, bouzouki, guitar, singing, mandolin, tinwhistle, ear training, and Irish ensemble. The camp website is at http://www.fridayharborirish.com with details about this year's camp, registration information and more. Please note that class selections must be made online, rather than on the registration form, and registrations won't be confirmed until that step is done.
Tuition remains at $675US for full-time students who register and pay in full before Jan. 1, 2009, after which it will be $690US. This includes tuition for classes, lodging, meals, and admission to concerts and other evening events. The camp will be a total of 5 class days and 6 nights. Please keep in mind that we try to keep class sizes small, so some classes filled up early in previous years and we had to stop taking students in those classes. We have some new additions to our teaching staff this year, plus some new class offerings, including special two-hour workshops on Saturday for weekend visitors and locals. (These are free to registered students.)

Scottsdale, AZ ~ Gaelic Football has something for everyone… speed, action, thrills and it’s the fastest game on grass.
A new winter league is forming now. The League is co-ed, will have four teams and each team will play every week. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your experience. We will provide training in the basics of the game and anyone can play after a few minutes of instruction.
Our games are on Saturday nights December 6, 13 and 20, 2008 and January 10, and 17, 2009. We are at Chaparral Park’s West Soccer Field on the northeast corner of Hayden Road and Jackrabbit in Scottsdale.
If you’re one of the younger Irish-American, you probably remember your father telling you wild stories about this game. Come see what the excitement is all about…..because this game is FUN !
