HANGING WITH...
Georgia Geis/The Arizona Republic 3-14-2001

Hanging With ... comes to you every Friday with a list of performances by local musicians.
Experience a wee bit of the Irish culture Sunday at the first Phoenix Irish Festival at Heritage Square in downtown Phoenix.

Only 90 days in the making, this festival features five Irish bands, three Irish dance troupes, a fiddle workshop and a puppet show and storyteller in the "wee folk" area. Vendors and exhibitors from across the state will have booths.

Hosted by Executive Resources for Irish Networking, this festival will help fund the completion of the Irish Cultural and Learning Center in Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. Part of the proceeds will go to the families of the New York policemen, policewomen and firefighters who died as a result of Tuesday's terrorist attacks. Admission is $5; children under 12 are admitted free.

Seanachie, regulars at the Dubliner Pub and O'Connor's Pub in north Phoenix, is one of the bands performing at the festival. The three-piece Irish band will release its first recording, Tell Me a Story, at the festival.

You can catch Seanachie at 8 p.m. today and Saturday at the Dubliner Pub, 3841 E. Thunderbird Road. Information (602) 867-0984. Festival information: (602) 819-8700.
